剧情简介
《最后一眼》起缘于Douglas Noël Adams及Mark Carwardine于1990年出版的一本介绍濒危物种的书籍。1985年由英国的《观察家》杂志发起的一项计划，他们派遣动物学家马克·卡沃汀及作家道格拉斯·亚当斯前往马达加斯加，寻找一种濒危的狐猴型下目生物──指猴。这个计划后来发展成对全球多个濒危物种的搜索及介绍，当中包括位于印尼科莫多岛的科莫多龙、位于扎伊尔的大猩猩及白犀、位于新西兰的鸮鹦鹉、中国的白鱀豚、罗德里格岛上的罗得里格斯狐蝠及一些其他物种等。
基于本书及其衍生计划的记录片于2007年开始制作，并于2009年4月完成，10月在BBC 第2频道首播。
