继「二十世纪伟大歌唱家的艺术」(The Art of Singing)、「二十世纪伟大指挥家的艺术」(The Art of Conducting)之后，NVC ARTS再次以最严谨的态度製作推出「二十世纪伟大钢琴家的艺术」(The Art of Piano)，这张全长108分鐘的钢琴大师专辑囊扩了二十世纪十七位大师珍贵影像的集锦，从1936年的波兰钢琴家巴德瑞夫斯基(Ignaz Jan Paderewski)一直到1970年代的智利钢琴大师阿劳(Claudio Arrau)，其中包括了二十世纪最具传奇性、最伟大的钢琴演奏家拉赫曼尼诺夫、霍洛维兹、季弗拉、鲁宾斯坦、柯尔托、巴克豪斯、费雪、吉利尔斯、李希特、米开兰杰里、顾尔德等十七位绝代钢琴大师，为了向这些大师致敬，製作人更邀集身为后辈(现已登大师地位)的钢琴家巴伦波因、季辛、科西斯以及指挥家戴维斯等人口述其眼中的钢琴大师群像，兼具名人风范、史料、收藏等高艺术价值，藉由大师的珍贵影像与现身说法，不只让我们亲见传奇，这更是钢琴演奏史在二十世纪臻於最颠峰状态的最完美纪录。

影碟采用历史镜头与当今回顾相穿插的手法。回顾者的主讲人有当今著名钢琴家与乐团指挥。如匈牙利钢琴家、指挥家塔马什·瓦沙里和捷尔吉·桑多尔；著名指挥家科林·戴维斯、罗日杰斯特文斯基、巴伦博伊姆以及青年钢琴家基辛等。这些“主讲者”以亲身经历和对钢琴艺术的独特理解，介绍各位大师的钢琴生涯和各自的演奏技巧与风格特质，为欣赏者起着导航领路的作品。

影碟中珍贵的历史镜头还有很多，其中当数阿劳演奏李斯特的匈牙利狂想曲；齐米凯朗杰利演奏斯卡拉蒂的B小调奏鸣曲；齐弗劳接受采访、演奏李斯特的“大加罗普”；鲁宾斯坦接受采访、演奏贝多芬G大调第四“钢协”、年轻时的霍罗维兹演奏肖邦的B小调练习曲，以及里赫特演奏柴科夫斯基降B小调“钢协”等。影碟中对一些大师着笔较多。如霍罗维兹重返“卡内基”，拉赫玛尼诺夫为钢琴事业游走，里赫特独来独往地漫步……。最精彩的片段可能是霍罗维兹演奏斯克里亚宾的升D小调练习曲和经改编的卡门主题变奏曲。真使人看起来眼花缭乱，听起来出神入化。通常被认为，霍罗维兹一向不知何为技巧难关，但这时他的演奏也紧张亢奋，似乎每根神经每个细胞都卯足了全力！钢琴艺术深邃无边，由此可见一斑。

• 　March - Dancing of the Red-Crested Cranes in Japan

• 　April - Red Garter Snakes in Canada returning to the surface after hibernating in the snow and having mass orgies. This footage may scare the youngsters.

• 　May - 70000 gannets gathering together on one small rocky outcrop in Scotland

• 　June - Grizzly Bears fishing for Salmon in Alaskan rivers

• 　July - Flamingos feeding on a soda lake in Kenya

• 　August - Emperor Penguins looking after their chicks during the dark winter in Antarctica

• 　September - The incredible acrobatics of the Dusky Dolphins off New Zealand
