It was the ultimate display of mankind’s destructive power - an earth- shattering explosion 2,500 times more powerful than the deadly bomb that annihilated Hiroshima and helped bring an end to the Second World War. Discover how one of the world’s superpowers created and denoted an earth shattering explosion that shook this plane

World’s Biggest Bomb combines first-hand testimony with in-depth forensic analysis and once classified rare footage of the 1954 USA Bikini Atoll explosion, to reveal how Cold War rivalry inspired an unprecedented acceleration in ammunitions technology, as US and Soviet bomb makers competed with each other to build the ultimate weapon. As both superpowers took ever- greater risks to get ahead, scientific know-how was stretched to its limits, leaving no one in control of the shocking devastation about to rock the planet. When the Soviets blasted their way into history in 1961, scientists worldwide were stunned. What caused this dramatic surge in explosive power? And why were weapons’ experts unable to predict the dreadful outcome of their work? With the shockwaves from this extraordinary chapter in modern history still being felt across the globe, World’s Biggest Bomb analyses the immediate and long-term impact of the world’s biggest bomb - and its enduring political relevance in our increasingly volatile world.

Animal Planet’s hit series FINDING BIGFOOT returns with all-new episodes, investigating compelling evidence that may prove the existence of the elusive creature. This season, investigations take the team farther across the globe and further into sasquatch history than they’ve ever traveled.

For the first time, the intrepid cast of investigators – Bigfoot Field Research Organization (BFRO) president Matt Moneymaker, researchers James “Bobo” Fay and Cliff Barackman, and skeptical scientist Ranae Holland - expand their search in North America and beyond to investigate the sasquatch phenomenon known as “yowies” in Australia and the “orang-pendek” of Indonesia. By examining photos and videos of the creature, speaking to local witnesses, using new technology and luring the mysterious beast with the team’s signature sasquatch calls, the group uncovers startling evidence of the mysterious and highly intelligent enigma that has eluded capture for centuries and fascinated man for just as long.

Legends of bigfoot-type primates persist in cultures all over the globe. So the bigfoot team attempts to capture proof of these elusive Australian and Indonesian creatures by immersing itself in local yowie and orang-pendek culture and lore and using that information in their investigations. With the knowledge of the locals and their own experiences researching sasquatches, the team is hot on the trail to locate these distant cousins of the North American bigfoot in the remote terrain and jungles of these far-off lands.

Sasquatch sightings have been reported in every state of the union except Hawaii. So this season, the team continues to leave no stone unturned and no piece of credible evidence unexplored as it travels to new locations to investigate compelling new finds in multiple states: Arizona, California, Colorado, Idaho, Louisiana, Michigan, Montana, Oklahoma, Texas, Vermont and Washington.

The team travels to New York state to investigate the New York Baby Footage. Ranae also spends some time alone near the site of the film, and dozens of witnesses come forward.

The team travels to Rhode Island to examine video of a roadside sighting of a bigfoot.

The team travels to Canadian Rockies to investigate a unique bigfoot encounter caught on tape.

The team travels to Minnesota to investigate howls recorded at a bigfoot hot spot and a sighting of what may be the tallest Bigfoot ever seen (11 feet tall).

The team heads to Ohio to investigate an encounter with a bigfoot that is caught on tape. Along with a team of volunteers, they search the surrounding forests for evidence of a bigfoot.

The team travels to Virginia to investigate video of what the locals are calling “the Beast of Gumhill.”

The team travels to Kentucky to investigate footage of glowing eyes that could belong to a bigfoot. The team tries a new search technique in the Daniel Boone National Forest.

The team travels to Indiana to investigate footage of a bigfoot caught in broad daylight.

The team travels to Utah to investigate a mysterious tape of a supposed bigfoot.

The team heads to the Mecca of Sasquatchery, Bluff Creek, California. While there they recreate the famous Patterson-Gimlin footage, accompanied by Bob Gimlin himself. They also investigate the Marble Mountain Footage. Later, while exploring the area, Ranae has an experience she’s not likely to forget.

A special that looks back at past Finding Bigfoot episodes.

Also, the team talks with the Seminole people, asking about some experiences some members of the tribe have had with Bigfoot.

The team travels to North Carolina, specifically the Uwharrie National Forest to investigate supposed Bigfoot sightings. Also, Matt’s leadership skills are called into question, and the largest search for Bigfoot ever is organized.

The team travels to Oregon the investigate multiple cases with sightings of Bigfoot. A group of rafters accidentally capture a video supposedly having a Bigfoot in it. Also, the team makes its first visit to Bigfoot and Beer, and then use a rabbit to try and lure out a sasquatch.

The team heads to southern Washington to investigate cases involving Bigfoot encounters. One man caught a picture that may show a Bigfoot that is on a snowcapped mountain. Also, Matt and Bobo claim to hear what sounded like human voices during a night investigation, and Cliff and Ranae ride in a small raft to see if they can see a Bigfoot.

The team heads to southeast Alaska because the mayor of the town of Hydaburg asks them to investigate compelling footprint photos. Also, Ranae and Bobo find a possible footprint, and talk with a woman who claims to have had a log thrown thrown at her taxi and spotted a Sasquatch in a tree the next day.

The team returns to a gathering in Oregon at Ike’s Pizza, called “Bigfoot and Beer” to talk personally to fans. The team talks about their excursions to find Bigfoot and reflect on them, answer questions from their fans, and play footage that was not aired on previous episodes.

The war in Afghanistan as seen through the eyes of the young soldiers on the frontline.

A daring mission deep into enemy territory is captured on camera by soldiers during Afghanistan’s bloodiest summer on record. Troop surges in 2010 forced the Taliban to fight dirty, using more IEDs than ever. Against this backdrop a 100-strong company from 2nd Battalion, Duke of Lancaster’s Regiment was deployed into one of the most dangerous areas of Helmand, tasked with protecting a vital road link. During a heavy firefight, Kingsman Darren Deady was shot in the neck. He collapsed into the lap of Sergeant Mark Wilson who was filming on a helmet camera. The operation later claimed the life of Captain Andrew Griffiths - the first child of a serving officer to die in Afghanistan. A dust storm grounded all aircraft in Bastion, but two brave helicopter pilots rewrote the rulebook, flying in formation to navigate so they could evacuate him. Both men were treated side by side in the UK, but died of their injuries. Andrew’s dad, Brigadier Mike Griffiths, the colonel of the regiment, now uses his personal experience to train ‘visiting’ officers who break the news of injuries and fatalities to servicemen’s families.

The men of C Company, 2nd Battalion the Mercian Regiment are getting used to life back in barracks and beginning to tell their stories of a tour far tougher than any of them expected. The two platoons that make up C Company are some of the most recent soldiers to have returned from Helmand Province. During the six months they were there, they filmed every moment. A timetable has been set for an end to British combat operations in Afghanistan, but two young officers, and best friends, led their platoons into an area of Helmand dubbed Death Valley to find a war that is far from over. While some areas are being handed over to Afghan forces as part of the process of transition, C Company’s extraordinary footage captures the reality of the fight against the Taliban in the Upper Gereshk Valley. During the tour they were blown up by IEDs, ambushed and shunned by a local population too scared to talk to them - until the unthinkable happened. A civilian vehicle carrying three generations of one family was hit by an IED along a notorious stretch of Route 611 - a road C Company were there to protect.

It’s May 2009 and a Welsh Guards platoon deep in Taliban country falls into a deadly ambush, just yards from the isolated mud fort which is their patrol base. Seven Platoon is led by the regiment’s brightest young officer, Lt Mark Evison, who keeps a candid war diary revealing dangerous shortages of manpower and equipment. They are just two weeks into their tour of duty, and already a vital piece of equipment - an essential radio cable - has failed. As the Taliban tighten their noose around Seven Platoon, putting IEDs on the roads and attacking their small fort, even the most vital spares cannot get to them quickly. This film tells the gripping story of how the lack of one small cable has lethal consequences and leads to a platoon of the Welsh Guards’ toughest soldiers nearly being massacred.

The war in Afghanistan as seen through the eyes of the young soldiers on the frontline.

This opening part of the series tells the story of a close-knit group of friends from 3 Platoon, 1st Battalion Royal Anglian regiment, who were sent to Helmand province in 2007. For most of them it was their first experience of war. The whole tour was filmed on a helmet camera by the platoon’s sergeant, who captured the moment when one of his men, 19-year-old Private Chris Gray, was killed in a Taliban ambush. The film explores the effects of his death on both his mates in the platoon and his family back in the UK.

The second episode focuses on a young platoon from the Grenadier Guards and their terrifying struggle with landmines, also known as Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs).

Captain Alex Rawlins filmed his men as they lost of one their mates, 23-year- old Guardsman Jamie Janes, who stood on a landmine during a patrol.

The film shows how Jamie Janes’s death became a turning point in the British public’s awareness of the human cost of IEDs and how a misspelled letter turned into a political storm for the then Prime Minister, Gordon Brown.

The final part starts in 2009 and tells the story of 2nd Battalion Princess of Wales regiment as it comes to terms with new rules of fighting brought in to protect civilians. Private Mike McCabe is filmed being shot in the leg during a Taliban ambush.

By 2010, the Scots Guards find themselves fighting a very different war - a battle for hearts and minds. They struggle to train a local force, the Afghan National Police, who fight in a reckless and dangerous way.

The risks are hammered home when Guardsman Daniel Clarke films a three-year- old girl who has been seriously injured by a rocket-propelled grenade fired by the ANP. The Scots Guards tour ends in tragedy when six members of the ANP are massacred in their sleep.
