In the year 2000, Belgian television company, Gedeon followed the organisation "HELP Congo", which has been combating the illegal chimpanzee trade in Congo for more than 10 years, in their first successful attempt to reintroduce to the forest, chimpanzees raised in captivity.

In a previous documentary, Born To Be Free, attention was focused on a group of chimpanzees that were brought up and released by the association. Today, Free is looking at the way this population of chimps have adapted to their new life in the wild, how they cope with the other chimps in the forest and what relationship and social structure they have built.

The HELP Congo scientists have given each chimp a name to identify them and have attached transmitter collars to them to track and study their behavior.

　Episode 1:

Mark starts his epic building project looking at kit helicopters around the world, Pete Walker goes to Osh Kosh, the largest air show in the world and Mark travels to Phoenix Arizona home of the Rotorway Helicopter Company to buy his kit.

　Episode 2:

The crates containing Marks kit arrive from the states and Mark begins work assembling the basic airframe and mounting the stainless steel tail boom. Pete reports from the Osh Kosh air show and we start learning how to fly.

　Episode 3:

Both vertical and horizontal trim fins are installed onto the helicopter. Mark visits Arizona's Rotorway International where the manufacture of the tail boom takes place. The flight section includes the Pre-flight checks and the all important Start-up.

　Episode 4:

The three key components used to manoeuvre the helicopter whilst airborne are manufactured in the factory and fitted onto to the chopper. Flight instructor John O'Neill gives a demonstration of the installed parts.

　Episode 5:

The project moves on as Mark installs the engine and drive chain, over at the factory we see a sprag clutch manufactured. Our introduction to helicopter flying continues with hovering techniques while Pete presents another Osh Kosh report with a Jag helicopter.

　Episode 6:

The tail rotor drive, clutch, and chain oil bath are all fullyassembled and installed onto the aircraft. Mark is shown more take-offtechniques in his flying lesson, we see a two million dollar CNCmachine in operation and over at Osh Kosh, Pete Walker introduces us toa recently completed Rotorway kit.

　Episode 7:

The exhaust and cooling system are the next components to be assembledand mounted onto the helicopter. The engine is manufactured andprepared for its assembly whilst more high flying aerobatics areperformed. Petes Osh Kosh report introduces us to the Air CommandGyrocopter.

　Episode 8:

The complex fuel system is successfully installed and the heat is onfor Mark as he melts 20 pounds of lead with a blowtorch! The engine isassembled in the factory and we learn about the different techniques ofhow to land the helicopter.

　Episode 9:

Mark interviews an avionics expert to gather information on thenavigation instruments and the electrical systems in modernhelicopters. Mark is given a tour of an RAF helicopter and the aircraftperforms a Search and rescue.

　Episode 10:

The helicopters electrical system is next on the agenda, Mark installsthe FADEC (which we see manufactured in the factory), the navigationcomputers, and all the anti collision lights. Osh Kosh introduces us toanother helicopter that is identical to the model being assembledthroughout the series. We find out how to move the helicopter on theground.

　Episode 11:

The end result is becoming much clearer as Mark starts to assemble thebody of the helicopter. Work is also started on the seat backs andinspection panels and one of the side doors of the helicopter is alsoinstalled. The flight instructor demonstrates a 'quick stop'.

　Episode 12:

We go to the factory and see the main rotor blades being manufactured,extra parts are added onto the helicopter and the rotor blades arefitted for trial purposes. A Kenny Hotrod is seen on the Osh Koshreport and more flight techniques are shown.

　Episode 13:

The helicopters controls need to be linked/rigged to the rotor bladesand the mechanical half of the aircraft. From Osh Kosh we see a Safarikit helicopter in action, and in our flying segment the instructorcovers the terrifying topic of engine failure.

　Episode 14:

In this, the penultimate show, Mark finishes off the interior of thechopper and installs the control columns and the aerial. In the flyinginsert our American pilot shows us a complete circuit from the take offto set down. Back at the workshop the engine is started up for the veryfirst time.

　Episode 15:

The climax of the series, now fully built, the chopper goes through thenail-biting flight test required by the Civil Aviation Authority. Aftera thorough inspection for pre-flight safety the culmination of sixmonths work finally gets to fruition as Marks Kit-Built helicoptertakes to the skies for the very first time!

　Mark gets an eye-full

Mark visits the Classic Car Show at the Birmingham NEC where he meets like-minded car-obsessives. From wrecks in need of a complete restoration, to fully-restored Ferraris. Mark asks the visitors to the show which car he should restore.

　Jag Hag

The Jaguar factory in Coventry is home a private collection of classic Jaguars. Mark meets Tom Jones (no, not that one) the man who designed the E-Type chassis and a man who had a most enviable job. Norman Dewes, Jaguar’s chief development test engineer - the test driver.

We see the car Mark will restore; found on a farm and left to rot, the 4.2 E-Type Roadster is in a sorry state.

Paul Clerkin shows us his E-type Jaguar - fully restored to concourse condition, a job that took him 6 years to complete.

　Stripping Off

The Jaguar arrives at the garage and the laborious job of restoring the car begins. Bolt by bolt, the car is taken to pieces, the parts that can be re-used are kept and anything beyond repair is discarded.

Racing Instructor Ian Forrest introduces new regular feature 'Classics on Test’ A Jaguar V12 owned by James Wilson is put to the test around the Knockhill circuit.

David Rochford shows us his restored Ferrari 246GTS.

　Blast

Stripped down to it’s shell, the car is sent to be blasted; a process whereby tiny plastic beads are fired at the car under great pressure to remove paint, underseal and any grime. This process reveals many problems that were not apparent when the car was first seen on the farm. Every panel on the car will need to be repaired or replaced. This is going to be a big restoration job.

At Knockhill, Ian Forrest drive the Alpha 200GTV belonging to, Steve Barberi. John Jackson shows his Jaguar XK150.

　Swinging the Lead

Work has begun on the car’s body with new floor sections going onto the car. Mark turns his hand to spot welding and lead loading. After a ‘small accident’, he also learns a little about panel beating and heat shrinking. Ian Forrest drives the TVR Griffith owned by Steve Wallace around Knockhill and John Janes guides us around his Riley Winchester; the last car of its type in existence.

　Vroom Vroom

Attention is turned to the glorious engine that powered the E-Type. The engine needs to be stripped completely with parts removed and sent to be polished, so they look as good as they did when the car was new.

The Jenson FIFA 1R belonging to Leonard Bolton is featured and at Knockhill, Ian Forrest drives a 1977 MK II Triumph Stag.

　Any Colour You Like...

The Jaguar gets a new coat of paint - several coats of paint in fact. The seven-stage paint process sees the car transformed. Its original colour [white] is replaced by a new colour, classic E-Type carmine red at a cost of £7,000. Back at the garage, Mark cuts and polishes one wing of the car to reveal the gleaming new paintwork.

Mick Clifton shows his MG V8 GT - a concourse winner and Ian Forrest drives a 1963 Austin Healey 300 around the Knockhill circuit.

　Where Does This Bit Go?

With the paintwork finished, cut and polished, it’s time to start putting the car back together. Washer jets, a new brake servo, a rather complicated-looking wiring loom and the rear suspension are among the first bits to go back on the car.

Jim Scott’s restored MKI Ford Cortina 1200 Deluxe is featured and Ian Forrest drives a Triumph TR3 around Knockhill’s racing circuit.

　Bits and Pieces

The fuel tank, piping and the boot lid are fitted to the Jaguar. The dashboard wiring is completed and work begins on the car’s electrics. Alistair Ross shows us the car he spent two years restoring, his MG L2. Ian Forrest drives the 1965 Hillman Singer Chamois around Knockhill.

　The Big Cat Roars Again

The restored engine and gearbox are ready to go back into the Jaguar. The oil filter, exhaust and fan are put onto the car and the big moment is almost here: the moment when the start button is pressed. Will the engine start?

A Sunbeam Alpine belonging to Geoff Parr is featured and Ian Forrest drives a 1973 Lotus Elan around Knockhill.

　Getting it Together

The doors are hung on the car, a tricky job which needs care, not least of all to avoid damaging the new paintwork. The windscreen is tackled with the help of a specialist windscreen fitter. Paul Wilkinson’s Volkswagen Beetle is featured and Ian Forrest drives one of his favourite cars around Knockihill: a Lotus Cortina.

　Back on Her Wheels

The unmistakable bonnet of the Jaguar E-Type is fitted to the car along with the newly-chromed bumpers and the light clusters. The old wheels have been replaced with more sturdy 18” wheels.

Roger Philips’ Triumph Stag MKII is shown and the MGB GTV8 of John Walpole is driven around the Knockhill circuit by Ian Forrest.

　The Final Plush

With most of the bodywork now restored, attention turns to the car’s interior. The original seats have been reupholstered and put back into the car. New carpets and upholstery are fitted with the help of specialist Steve Frost. The roof frame, roof and the door fittings are also put back onto the car.

Ian Proudfoot’s Jenson 541S is shown and Ian Forrest drives a Mark I Ford Capri around Knockhill.

　Spit and Polish

With all of the bodywork now back on the car, it’s time to test the car before driving it. The engine is tuned and the suspension is set up. The car’s tracking is adjusted and then it’s a final polish of the paintwork before the car is back on the road.

An Aston Martin Le Mans - once owned by Sir Malcolm Campbell, but now proudly owned by Philip Haslam is featured. Ian Forrest picks his favourite car from all of those which he has driven during the series.

　Welcome Back

After six months solid work, the Jaguar E-Type Roadster is back where it belongs: on the road. Looking resplendent with its new carmine red paintwork, the car is driven around the test track. Mark, Ian Forrest and Norman Dewes, (who’s job it was to test drive the Jaguar E-Types) all drive the car. As a fitting tribute to all the hard work done to restore the car, it and Mark are invited to take part in the William Lyons Memorial Rally in Coventry with other Jaguar owners. 36 years after it left the factory, the Jaguar E-Type Roadster is back home.

这部纪录片由蓝天制片的John McElroy制作，他也是电视节目“Autoline Detroit（底特律自动线）”的主持人。

　Episode 1

Mark visits a Kit Car show to decide which kit to build.

　Episode 2

A donor car is found and disassembled.

　Episode 3

The chassis arrives and the front suspension is installed.

　Episode 4

The rear suspension, steering, and fuel tank go on the car.

　Episode 5

Brakes are installed, then brake and fuel lines are run.

　Episode 6

Disappointed with the donor engine, Mark goes shopping for a new one. The new engine and gearbox are dropped in.

　Episode 7

Radiator and engine electrics are installed. Add some fluids, and fire it up!

　Episode 8

Mark visits the factory to see the body being made, and begins the bodywork when his is delivered.

　Episode 9

More bodywork! The doors, boot lid, gas cap, and headlights are fitted.

　Episode 10

The body is back from paint. Exhaust, lights, and brightwork are bolted on.

　Episode 11

The dash is assembled and installed.

　Episode 12

The carpets are glued in, and the rest of the interior trim soon follows.

Finishing up the details. More exterior trim is added, the bonnet hinge is attached, wipers are installed, the steering wheel goes in. A soft-top...
