1971's Imagine isn't John Lennon's best album, but it remains his most famous. 1970's Plastic Ono Band was Lennon's first full musical album as a solo artist, and it's easily his finest work. He and wife Yoko Ono created some very experimental releases like 1969's The Wedding Album and he put out some excellent singles like “Cold Turkey” and “Instant Karma!”, but John didn't produce a full rock LP until POB.

It proved to be a difficult record to top. POB came during a period of severe introspection for John and he tried to exorcise many demons with it. POB remains likely the most personal album from any former Beatle, and it's also arguably the best of the bunch.

By Imagine, John had mellowed a little, and the record showed a gentler side. Actually, that's not fair; POB had some quiet and lovely tunes like “Look At Me”. Nonetheless, Imagine came across as a sunnier album as a whole; it definitely had some harsh moments, but they didn't dominate the proceedings as they had with POB.

It's also a more accessible piece, largely thanks to the title tune. “Imagine” has become a verified classic and may well be the most-played of all solo Beatle tunes.

It's an invaluable program for fans. We rarely see such candid and revealing glimpses of any musical artist, much less such a legendary one. From start to finish - which includes a demo version of “Look At Me”, by the way - Truth is a joy to watch.

Grand Designs is a Channel 4 TV series covering unusual architectural house-building projects, presented by Kevin McCloud and produced by Talkback. The properties featured in the series vary wildly from homes underground to converted water towers, with the only common factor being that they're all rather unusual or extravagant in some way. An example project from the series was Ben Law's woodsman cottage which was built largely with wood harvested from the surrounding woodland, using few commercial materials and predominantly free labour.

　The Timber Frame Kit House, Newhaven

Tim and Julia designed their new house for a beautiful setting on the Newhaven cliffs in East Sussex, which they stumbled on by chance. The location was crucial in their decision to build their own home, though the couple also wanted more space for their children - they have two each from previous marriages and now a new baby.

　The English Barn, Berkshire

Denys and Marjorie Randolph, who are in their seventies, built their first house 10 years ago. It was a large family home with an adjoining vineyard. Eventually the vineyard became too much work, so their daughter took over, and the couple have built a new house down the road.

　The Co-Op, Walter Segal houses Brighton

This project was a co-operative venture - 10 young families each put in 30 hours of construction work per week.

In the process they earned the right to live in the houses at a greatly subsidised rent and, they hope, also created a ready-made community in an ideal setting, just on the edge of the South Downs near Brighton. Paul and his partner Jenny provided the impetus for the project. The couple had been living on the road as travellers and wanted to provide more security for their young daughter.

　The Water Tower, Coleshill, Amersham

I think all architects want to build their own house, so I'm like a pig in mud,' says Andrew Tate, the proud owner of a 100-foot converted water tower near Amersham, Buckinghamshire.

　The Eco-House, Suffolk

Rob and Alida not only wanted to build their new house from scratch, they also wanted to change the way they live to be true, in their day-to-day lives, to their commitment to sustainability and protecting the environment.

They found an ideal green-field plot in October 1997, in the heart of Suffolk, and received planning permission after three months' tense wait.

　The Chapel, Cornwall

Jane and Gavin bought a disused chapel on the Cornwall/Devon border at auction. They were living in Birmingham - Jane working for Hewlett Packard and Gavin travelling to different jobs as a management consultant. The chapel conversion was their dream of escaping from city and office life to an idyllic spot in the country.

　The House of Straw, Islington

Architects Jeremy Till and Sarah Wigglesworth bought their plot of land beside a busy railway line in Islington, north London, at auction.

It was a brown-field site, previously containing light industry, and because there were sitting tenants the couple had to wait for four years before they could start building.

　The Glass-House, Doncaster

Architect Colin Harwood describes this huge glass-and-steel structure as a 'James Bond villain house'. It is also a family project: Colin designed it for his sister Lindsay and his brother-in-law Michael.

This film explores the history of the American government's official policy on marijuana in the 20th century. Rising with nativist xenophobia with Mexican immigration and their taste for smoking marijuana, we see the establishment of a wrong headed federal drug policy as a crime issue as oppposed to a public health approach. Fuelled by prejudice, hysterical propaganda and political opportunism undeterred by voices of reason on the subject, we follow the story of a costly and futile crusade against a substance with questionable ill effects that has damaged basic civil liberites.

跟随麦克柏林做一次充满幽默和刺激的旅程。

　EP1

The programme starts out with Palin sitting on a beach reading a novel of Hemingway. After being chased by a fake bull he ends up in Pamplona, Spain. There he watches the famous bull run and then goes to interview a professional matador. Hemingway loved the bull run, and Palin confides that it must be an age thing - he can't stand watching it.

Travelling to Africa where Hemingway went on many safaris, Palin goes to a local Maasai circumcision where the teenage boys are dressed up in finery. "Which of you is the most beautiful here?" he asked. "We are all beautiful," replies the boy, "except you!" Afterwards, he catches a view of Mount Kilimanjaro, Africa's highest point.

　EP2

In Chicago, Palin spends a bit of time exploring the city before going to Hemingway's birthplace, Oak Park. After strolling through Hemingway's first home and singing some of his childhood songs, he goes back to Chicago and enters a local shooting range, hoping to be like Hemingway. Mostly, Palin just jumps at the recoil.

On to Michigan, where Palin visits the area where Hemingway first learned to fish, and attempts to catch a few himself. He catches none and ends up hooking the cameraman's ear. Going to the local grocer, Palin asks for things that might have been on Hemingway's shopping list to see if the modern grocer would still carry it. In the process of asking for canned meat, ("We have Spam," the grocer says,) he ends up singing the Spam song from the famous Monty Python sketch. Then it's off to Italy.

In Italy, Palin goes to the area where Hemingway was wounded during WW I and supposedly buried a ten pound note in the ground. After a fruitless search, Palin buries his book in the ground. After attempting to drive an Italian ambulance and become a Red Cross nurse, he travels on to France.

Paris, France was "...the city I love most in all the world," according to Hemingway. Now Palin goes through the City of Lights and reenacts perhaps the strangest part of Hemingway's life in 1928 - when the writer was reaching for the cord for the lavatory, he ended up pulling the skylight cord, and the pane of glass crashed on top of his head.

　EP3

In a random twist of events, Palin pops up in the Florida Keys and sees a Hemingway look-alike contest at the local restaurant in Key West. He also goes to visit a man who had boxed with Hemingway.

Going to Uganda, Palin looks at the site where Hemingway's plane crashed, after which the newspaper headlines incorrectly declared that the famous author and his wife were dead. Palin soon flies on to Venice, Italy, to keep following Hemingway's always moving footsteps.

In Venice, Palin walks in the midst of an ancient festival that had been forgotten for 200 years and was revived only in 1975. The people wear masks and cloaks, so Palin decides to get into the spirit and dresses up as a Gumby from the Monty Python television series. After this, Palin goes to a dinner before participating in a duck hunt, and interviews the Italian people at the meal. Putting on a warm jacket and gloves, Palin and the Barone, his duck-hunting partner, wait in vain for three and a half hours for a duck to come.

　EP4

Palin flies to Cuba where he finds many Hemingway leads and visits his former home and a hotel room he often stayed in. Many failed attempts to interview President Castro are made, and Palin, after waiting a few extra days to have an interview, jets off towards the American West.

Following the last stretch of Hemingway's life, Palin becomes a cowboy at a dude ranch in Montana and succeeds in roping the camera operator. After rounding up a few cows, Palin goes to Ketchum, Idaho to visit Hemingway's grave. He professes that "I'm still looking for some sort of approval from him... some sort of nod of acknowledgment from Hemingway." The grave obligingly replies, "Bull-s***."

　　如月球不见了 人类很容易便忘记月球的重要，以及它与地球的关系。月球正逐渐远离地球，一年约离开4公分。它与地球的距离，曾经比目前更接近17倍。月球越离越远，地球的自转也随之变慢，造成白天逐渐增长，一年的天数逐渐减少。几十亿年之後，失去月球也许会导致“混乱的倾斜”——地球将在太空中猛烈晃动。本节目使用最先进的电脑动画与美国航太总署从月球任务中带回的最新影像，向观众介绍这个地球的小兄弟，并想像如果有一天它不见了，人类会流落何方。卓越科学家也会解释为什麼月球可能是地球与另一个与火星大小相当的行星碰撞後才创造出来的。
