This documentary follows the fortunes of Joseph P. Kennedy Sr., whose family produced some of the most illustrious political figures of the 20th century. Building a fortune in the liquor industry, the senior Kennedy was fierce in his ambitions and aspirations for a better, more illustrious life for his progeny. But the family’s fame and fortune seemed to come with a high price. Archival film footage shows the senior Kennedy as an American ambassador, the proud day when his son John F. Kennedy became President of the United States, as well the many reversals of fortune the Kennedy family has endured. Interviews with those close to Joseph Kennedy discuss his triumphs and tragedies.
